How long should I wait before laying carpet after painting skirting board?

I am currently re-decorating a room with no carpet. I have been told that after painting the skirting board, I must leave anywhere between 3 and 14 days (depending on the source) before laying carpet as, if the paint is still 'soft', it can be easily chipped.

I would rather not wait 2 weeks if it is not necessary, however I don't want to chip the skirting board. Does anybody have any idea as to how long I should leave the painted skirting boards before laying the carpet?

Thanks!

What is a VPN?

VPN is (Virtual Private Network) were first used by companies to enable their employees to securely access internal systems such as email remotely (e.g. from home or while on business trips). Today they are increasingly being used for personal use by individuals to protect their privacy while online in public places (e.g. when using the wi-fi connection in a cafe) or in a country where the internet is censored / blocked (e.g. China, Saudi Arabia…).
